Droid X users get an early peek into all the wonders of the Android 2.2 OS update early, as a leaked over-the-air upgrade found its way into, well, these guys’ hands. Lucky for you (provided that you’re a Droid X owner), they’re willing to share the Froyo love, which includes Google Voice Actions and support for the latest version of Flash. The update is a legit copy of the upgrade in an update.zip format and not a ROM or port conversion, so you won’t even have to root your phone if you don’t want to go to the more enlightened side of smartphone ownership.
The complete walkthrough and download link for doing the update yourself is available over at the DroidWorld forums, which includes idiot-proof instructions with options for people who want the upgrade done on a rooted or non-rooted phone. Just take note that you’re going to need to wipe your phone back to its fresh-out-of-the-box stock state to apply the update, but it should be worth it considering the advantages of running a Froyo’d Droid X right now compared to whenever it becomes available.
