In a market that literally being flooded with touchscreen tablets and smartphones with ever-increasing screen sizes, the 10-inch Axon Haptic is pretty unique. Not because of the spec that’s not any than your average netbook or the $800 price that would allow you to pick up a base iPad and a cheap netbook, but because of its OS compatibility. Yep, this baby is designed to be compatible with Windows, Linux and any Darwin OS, which is a not-so-direct way of saying that it’ll load Mac OS X.
The standard spec includes a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, 2GBs or RAM, and a 320GB hard drive behind a 10-inch LED-backlit resistive touchscreen LCD. Connectivity includes Wi-fi b/g/n, a 3G SIM slot that’ll work with AT&T and Verizon, plus a smattering of the usual notebook ports: 3x USB, headphone and mic, Ethernet LAN, VGA, and card reader around a body that’s just under two pounds.
The standard kit retails for $800, but you can pick it up for $750 if you sign up for one during the pre-order period that’s going on right now. It’s packaged with its own built-in stylus for accurate tapping, but it won’t come bundled with any of the stated operating systems.
