It’s been a couple of months since photos of Samsung’s Android-based Galaxy Tab was teased through a Samsung branch’s Twitter, and we really didn’t get any significant news about it since then. It looks like the waiting is about to end though (provided that you actually waited, got bored with all the waiting, and just bought an iPad): according to a Samsung source, the Galaxy Tab could be shown off during the IFA consumer electronics show in Germany next month.
That’s about as far as the new info goes though. As for the device’s specs itself, what we (along wit everyone else) knows came from a spec leak that gives off a few major details that includes a 7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor, 16GBs of internal memory plus a card slot for storage, and a 4000mAh battery. As a requisite iPad-busting bonus feature, the Galaxy Tab could have a video call function that could make or break a sale, depending on whether you think video calling on a slate is that important. (based on the way the iPad has been selling out, a video calling feature on a slate doesn’t seem to be that important though.)
According to the source, Samsung will also be showing off their latest Smart TVs and interchangeable lens cameras during the show. The IFA is scheduled to run from September 3 to 8 in Berlin, Germany.
