A netbook that can boot either Windows or Android? Not a bad idea. Acer unveiled a new 10-inch netbook called the Aspire One AOD255 that comes loaded with both Windows and Android operating system, offering quick access to basic functions like e-mail and web browsing under Android, while still offering the full PC functionality from Windows XP. The dual-boot system features Acer’s Configuration Manager for Android that’ll let you choose which operating is loaded when you start it up.
The hardware isn’t that much advanced, with a 1.66GHz Atom processor, 1GB of memory, a 160GB hard drive, and a 3-cell battery; certainly not a high-spec notebook, but it helps keep the price at an affordable $375 when it gets officially launched, but it’s currently being peddled on the Taipei Computer Applications Show floor for $300. Problem is, availability is currently limited to Taiwan right now, with no word on international availability yet.
