Jailbreakme 2.0 is out! Break into iOS 4 with a swipe of your finger
Mobile Apps - Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010
The userland jailbreak from comex and the iPhone dev team is finally out, and they designed the new JB method to be easy enough for anyone—non-techies included—to pull off. Now, we thought the previous Spirit jailbreak was easy (all you needed to do was download the desktop app, and press a button), but this new method, called Jailbreakme 2.0, is even better. All you need is your iDevice, a live Wi-fi connection, and a finger. Quick how-to after the break.
Support extends from the iPhone 3G to the iPhone 4, along with any other device that can run iOS 4, and it’ll crack ‘em all using a simple browser-based method.
Here’s how to do it:
- Open iTunes and run a sync to backup your device.
- Update your iPhone 3G, 3GS or 3G to the latest iOS 4.0.1 firmware through iTunes. For iPad users, you need to update to iOS 3.2.1.
- Connect to a wi-fi network.
- Open the Safari browser, and go to Http://jailbreakme.com.
- Just slide the slider on the page, and wait for the process to finish.
- When it announces that Cydia has been added, you’re done. Do what you will (just remember to keep it legal, people!)
