While the white iPhone 4 delay is a downer to the people who were waiting for the expected end-of-the-month release, Apple kind of makes up for it by starting the free case program they promised during the great Antennagate press conference.
If you already have an iPhone 4, download and install the iPhone 4 case program app (yeah, there’s an app for that. It’s to prevent fakers and case hoarding), sign in using your Apple ID, pick from a number of official Apple or licensed third-party cases, and wait around 3-5 weeks for delivery. There are currently seven design available: Apple Bumper, Belkin Shield Micra, Incase Snap Case, Griffin Motif, Griffin Reveal, Speck Fitted and Speck PixelSkin HD.
For existing iPhone 4 owners, you have until August 22 to apply for the free case. For everyone else on the fence, if you buy an iPhone 4 before September 30, they won’t be handing you a case on the spot. You’re still going to have to do the steps and apply for the free case within 30 days just like everyone else.
