Adobe’s “FlashTime” demo for Android looks familiar Adobe FlashTime demo

Adobe just released a new demo video that shows a peer-to-peer video calling app called FlashTime. Sound familiar? Of course it does, since Apple’s FaceTime feature is probably as good a reason as any to dump your 3GS for the new iPhone 4. This one runs on Android though, since Apple’s iDevices won’t run Adobe’s Flash platform and we don’t expect that arrangement to change anytime soon.

Built using Adobe’s upcoming AIR 2.5 platform, the FlashTime demo shown here isn’t a final product but a demonstration of the Flash-based platform’s capabilities. It works pretty well as it is right now though (seen here running on a couple of Nexus Ones through Adobe’s own server), so while we might not see anything officially named FlashTime anytime soon, you can bet that we’re going to see a FaceTime-like feature for Android phones when it gets released.

Now if only someone released a screen that could rival the quality of Apple’s Retina Display…
