| Atticus Ross & Trent Reznor have signed on to provide the Facebook movie musical score. |
Industrial rocker and social media purveyor extraordinaire Trent Reznor announced that he has gotten on board the Facebook movie barge, saying that he’s been tapped to craft the film’s musical score. The announcement was made by the Nine Inch Nails (NiN) vocalist a mere few hours after we posted the official teaser trailer for The Social Network.
Reznor recalls on the official post of his original plan to take some time off the NiN tour bus to create more music for his bands until it was knocked off course when the movie’s director David Fincher started inquiring about his services. While the material he finished ended up becoming the EP for his new band How To Destroy Angels (HTDA), he practically bid farewell to the rest of his free time when he got to read the script to the upcoming The Social Network. And he even took his HTDA bandmate and regular NiN collaborator Atticus Ross for the ride.

“The level of excellence that David operates on is inspiring and the entire process has been challenging and truly enjoyable.” he quips further on his news post.
The movie must seem very promising for the rocker as it was apparently the script that got him to give his go ahead and even described it as “…really f*cking good. And dark!” That being said, if Reznor’s past albums are any indications, we should be seeing an edgy storytelling treatment matched by a balls-to-the-walls musical score.
Since the official poster found itself sprawled online, anticipation for the movie has gotten somewhat positive; even more so when the Sony Picture debuted the teaser on YouTube. However, what we knew about the movie is pretty limited to the story of Facebook’s inception and the considerably impressive helmed by Holywood heavyweights Fincher and Aaron Sorkin.
The mostly audio teaser didn’t help much either except to mildly heighten anticipation further with its heavy breathing and a handful of enticing dramatic lines from the movie.
If it’s any consolation, the very fact that Reznor is now onboard with the production shines an edgier light to the project and gives it some semblance of badass-ness as opposed to…well, another Linkin Park track or a maladjusted all-symphony ensemble.
