If you’re not a morning person, then getting up every darn morning has always been an unfortunate day-defining struggle of the Catch 22 variety. And by the time you actually get up and grumble your way to the bathroom, you’ll have screamed half a dozen expletives at your poor alarm clock.
Now, Oregon-based indie software developer The Byte Factory (aka Eamon Ford) has found a way to put that early morning aggression to good use with the Sleep Blaster alarm clock app.
Simply put, Sleep Blaster puts a full featured alarm clock into your iPhone or iPod touch. But what sets it apart from the alarm apps of its kind in Apple’s shed is that it has a voice activated feature which lets you scream your lungs out to shut it up. And it seems kind of logical since most of us crank up the crank in the morning anyway.
If you prefer a less feral approach, you can instead tap on either the Snooze or the Alarm Off button to stop the alarm. But that’s not infuriatingly fun, is it?
In our opinion, however, having an actual verbal abuse target can wind us up so tight we’ll be disgruntled the entire day. But hey, it’s nothing our morning caffeine fix can’t remedy. Also, anything to get us out of bed, right?

Aside from this amusing feature/verbal abuse fetish fodder, Sleep Blaster boasts of a really cool and ingenious location-based functionality. It leverages on GPS and when enabled, the app will allow you to set boundaries on a specific geographic location on a map; perhaps your subway or bus stop or maybe your exact destination. The alarm goes off as soon as you cross that boundary.
The Sleep Blaster alarm clock app retails at a mere $1.99 from the Apple App Store.
