According to this info leak from Droid Life, Verizon is preparing for a big Droid X launch on June 19th. Why should you care? Because regardless of how you feel about the iPhone 4, the Droid X, also known as the Droid Xtreme, looks awesome. Also, that screen is huge.
Full details haven’t been released (since it hasn’t been officially launched yet), but Gadget University managed to get an early hands-on preview, where they managed to get these details:
- 4.3-inch screen
- 750MHz OMAP processor
- HDMI out
- Android 2.1 OS
- Updated Moto Blur UI
- Hardware navigation keys
- 8MP camera
A 4.3-inch touchscreen? That’s pretty huge. It may not pack as much pixels as the 960×640 resolution on the iPhone 4, but that’s almost a full inch bigger. The better to view high-def 720p videos with (which it can support, by the way). The HDMI out port will let you watch those stored videos on a larger HDTV too.
The preview also described a crisp screen that’s definitely better than the original Droid’s, which could possibly be an IPS (and not AMOLED) display.
We’ll know more soon enough. According to the source, Verizon will be officially unveiling the Droid X next week.
