Archos releases dual core Atom powered 13 inch notebook Archos 13 1Technically, the Archos 13 should be tagged as a netbook, since it’s powered by Intel’s Atom processor. But overall, it’s really a mix of mobile computing specs, blurring the line between netbook and notebook. First off, it’s a bit large at 13.3 inches to be considered a netbook. Also, it packs an Intel Atom D510 processor, which isn’t your regular Atom since this dual core chip is usually found on nettops.

So let’s call it an ultraportable, since it pretty much describes what this mobile PC is all about: keeping everything packed in a frame that weighs 3.5 pounds and measures around 27mm (1.06 inches) thick.

The rest of the specs jump between netbook and notebook standards, with a 1366 x 768 widescreen display that supports—along with the dual core Atom, 720p HD video playback. It’s then coupled by an entry-level netbook’s spec, with only 1GB of memory, and a 160GB hard drive—a bit of a downer after the dual core Atom. The rest of the basics are a given, with standard Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, card reader, USB ports, and VGA output sprinkled across the sides.

It’s currently available in Europe, priced at 400 euros, or around $485. No word on when (or if) it’ll reach other markets yet.
