Samsung’s South Africa just posted an unofficial “teaser” photo of what looks like the company’s first tablet on Twitter. Called the Galaxy Tab, the device sports an iPad-like design (to be fair, it also sticks to Samsung’s design concepts too), and will run on a tablet-friendly version of the Android 2.1 OS—the same mobile operating system running on their flagship Galaxy S smartphone (also shown on the pic), obviously gearing up for a head-to-head against Apple’s iPhone/iPad line.
Not much has been revealed about the new slate, but the Galaxy Tab will sport a 7-inch screen, and is expected to ship in August. According to several rumors floating from out of Korea, Samsung might follow with an 8-incher in October, and a top-end 10-inch version in December.
