Nope, that’s not the Chinese version of the iPhone 4. Or maybe it is, although it’s not made by Apple. Called the Air Phone No.4, we’re probably seeing the world’s first iPhone 4 clone, released in China within a few days after the actual iPhone 4’s release. It’s not really a direct clone though. While it looks like the real thing—complete with the Apple-looking interface and icons—it’s no iOS 4, and the 3.5-inch resistive touchscreen is a far cry from the iPhone 4’s retina display.
After Nokia posted their “you can hold our phones any way you want” blog as a jab to Steve Jobs’ “Just don’t hold it that way” email reply, Motorola just posted a full-pager on the New York Times to advertise the upcoming Droid X with their usual “Droid does more” slant and then some. While we’re pretty sure that the whole “does more” thing was created as an answer to the iPhone (or specifically, what it didn’t “do”), there’s a not-so subtle jab along the bottom of the ad that sounds a little more direct.

It looks like Best Buy’s no-hassle $199.99 offer for the Droid X turned out to be a success. Or maybe the phone-buying public simply thinks the Droid X is that awesome. Whatever the case, some Best Buy stores have confirmed that they’ve stopped taking pre-orders for Moto’s upcoming Android phone because the demand has already matched their initial supplies (which could have been an insanely low number; like, a dozen units per store for all we know). So there you go: if you were planning on picking up your Droid X on or around the July 15 release day, better look for another place to get yours.
Seagate recently claimed a world first by launching the 3TB FreeAgent GoFlex Desk, an external drive that packs a unique 3-Terabyte drive. That’s pretty much it for this one—basically a massive 3TBs’ worth of storage in a single frame that shouldn’t take up any more desktop space than any average external drive would. The package comes a USB 2.0 interface as its standard, but like the rest of the GoFlex line, it can be fitted with other faster interface standards like USB 3.0, eSATA or FireWire 800 after you pick up the right adapter kit.

Much has been said about the iPhone 4’s tougher “Gorilla glass” screen cover, which is claimed (by Apple) to be comparable to sapphire crystal and 30 times harder than plastic. So what do we, as a society, do about it? The rest of us normal folk would simply feel more secure knowing that our new iPhone is tougher, thanks to whatever Gorilla glass is. The rest of us? This guy popped it in a blender. And these guys checked how many times you can drop it onto concrete before it croaks. (video after the break)
