T-Mobile has just announced that the Garminfone, the dedicated GPS-smartphone built by Asus and Garmin, will be available on store shelves on June 9. The partnership between the two brands have resulted in a number of GPS-equipped mobile phones, but this marks the first Garmin-branded smartphone for the US market.
Introduced by T-Mobile last month, the Garminfone is a fully-featured Android smartphone that sports a 3.5-inch touchscreen, a 3MP camera, 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-fi connectivity, 4GBs of internal memory (plus a microSDHC card slot for adding more). The highlight is on Garmin’s GPS mapping and navigation features though, with voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions, lane assist, and a map that shows points of interest to help you get around.

It’s set to sell for $200 when picked up with a 2-year contract after a $50 mail-in rebate, and is bundled with a car mounting kit, making it good to go straight out of the box.
