In case you were on the fence about picking up a tablet because you were planning to check out what everyone-not-named-Apple was planning to launch, you might need to wait a little while longer. Well, actually you really don???t need to wait that long for an iPad alternative, since there are other products out there, but if you were specifically waiting for HP???s slate, the word is out that they???ll be pushing the launch back from July to October.
Specifics weren???t given, but there have been rumors that HP???s looking to make a shift from the planned Windows 7 OS to a more mobile-friendly operating system that could include webOS or Google???s Android. It makes sense though; While it would have been nice to actually run a full Windows OS on a device that???s easier to pack and use, the original Wintel configuration would have taxed the system (and the battery), putting it at a disadvantage against the iPad???s listed 10-hour battery life.
It just seems a bit too late though. With the rest of the world currently scrambling for an iPad, it makes you wonder if the tablet demand will still be there by October.
