Here’s the latest iPad “test” to make the internet video rounds called “Will It Shred?” In the video, Fuel.tv’s Built to Shred host Jeff King and Pro Skater Chad Knight tests the iPad’s ability to survive through an experiment wherein… you know what? We’re going to stop right there. Basically, they opened a brand new 64GB iPad, drilled, screwed and glued skateboard parts onto it, and tried to skate it on a half-pipe. (Video available after the cut.)
Warning: the following video shows graphic scenes of abuse done to a brand new $500 64GB iPad. Geeks may experience discomfort.
So there you have it: the iPad will “shred.” Just not as effectively as, you know, a real skateboard.
It won’t survive the process though. The screen—which broke almost instantly—is evidently too weak, convincingly proving that it won’t be able to support the weight of a jackass. It also makes for a pretty crappy ramp extension, especially if you take the price into account.
Only one question remains unanswered: couldn’t they have done this to a 16GB iPad?
