Nintendo to release black Wii, available next week Nintendo Wii black

Besides the number of fitness-themed accessories and the sensitivity-boosting Motion Plus add-on that was released last year, nothing new has been going on for Nintendo’s Wii lately. Thanks to the absence of significant game-changing stuff for the console, this makes the news: Nintendo has confirmed that they’ll be selling the black Wii to the US, and it’ll ship on May 9th.

It’ll be up to the numbers if the new dark-side-of-the-force color option will actually help sell more consoles, but the kit set to ship next week does come with a complete bundle. Priced at $200 over at Amazon (they’re taking pre-orders now), the Wii comes with matching black accessories (one Wii Remote with a Motion Plus accessory and Nunchuck) plus two games: the original Wii Sports game pack and the Wii Sports Resort game that takes advantage of Motion Plus.

The new Wii will also be available from other online retailers (Best Buy, Toys ‘R’ Us, Walmart, Sears, GameStop, KMart), and will support Netflix’s streaming video service.
