The Asus Eee PC 1005PR is a netbook, but it’s not your average netbook. While it still runs on the usual netbook platform (1.66GHz Intel Atom processor and 1GB of memory), it also comes with an unusual extra, in the form of a 10.1-inch, HD-quality screen for better video playback.
While it still comes in the same size as the average 10-inch netbook, the 1366×768-pixel (720p) resolution on the 1005PR will let you enjoy quality video playback compared to the usual netbook’s 1024×600 screen—significantly better, although a 10-inch screen still isn’t the best way to go if you want high-quality entertainment. The system also integrates Broadcom Crystal HD chipset to help push the pixels along for high-end video playback.
The rest of the netbook is still pretty much “netbook” though: standard spec also includes a 250GB hard drive, Wi-fi connectivity and a Windows 7 Starter OS. It’s up for pre-orders now on Amazon for $400.
