Sony has just unveiled three new home theater systems with slim dimensions and 3D audio support (a first for Sony), which should go great with that slim 3D HDTV you’ve been lusting over—as long as you’ve been lusting for a system that centers on a Bravia HDTV, since these kits match them perfectly.
Two of the new kits, the HT-CT150 and HT-CT350, feature 3.1-channel configurations built around a sound bar + subwoofer combo to keep things simple, while the HT-SF470 is a full 5.1-channel kit. All systems feature three HDMI inputs, one output, and another HDMI pass-through connection that allows 3D signals from HDTVs, Blu-ray players and gaming consoles to pass through.
Both sound bar kits are technically similar, although the larger, 400W CT350 ($400) was built to match Sony’s 40-inch Bravia HDTV, while the 340W CT150 ($300) is designed to go with 32-inchers. The 5.1-channel HT-SF470 peaks at 1,000W, with five satellites rated at 157W each to go alongside the 167-Watt sub, and comes with an optional wireless interface for a cable-free living room.
The two 3.1-channel sound bars are due out in May, while the HT-SF470 ships in June for $550.
