Now available: MSI’s Core i5 powered GX640 gaming laptop MSI GX640 2

While a laptop running on Intel’s Core i5 isn’t necessarily something that’ll make a gamer drool, maybe this will: MSI’s new 5.4-incher also sports ATI’s Radeon HD5850 graphics card with 1GB of GDDR5 memory.

Regardless of the hype of the top-end, quad-cored i7, Intel’s Core i5 processors should still be able to handle games well enough. It’s made to be more power-efficient too, listed to improve battery life by as much as 15%, while boasting performance by 30% thanks to Intel’s Turbo Boost tech. The real highlight is still the Radeon HD5850 anyway—an awesome GPU to be found on a gaming laptop.

The rest of this gaming laptop’s spec makes up for a solid performer for the price: 4GBs of DDR3 memory, a 500GB, 7200rpm hard drive, a 9-cell battery and a Windows 7 Home Premium 64 operating system.

It’s available on Amazon now for $1,100.
