Not so serious anymore: Nokia E72 now comes in purple Nokia E72 Amethyst

The E72 has followed the E71 into business-phone fame thanks to a solid build, nice spec, and a slim and sleek form factor. Unfortunately, the colors have always been all about business with the existing black, silver and brown color sets, but it has always been understood that the Eseries were built for the business “E-xecutive” anyway. This new option changes that line of thinking… a bit: the serious-looking E72 now gets a rather chic sister, thanks to a new purple color option (listed as “Amethyst”) that should appeal to the ladies. Okay, that sounds a bit sexist. For the record, they’ll sell it to guys too—at least guys who for some reason might want a purple phone. Everything else is still the same, though… still the same old, seriously awesome E72.

The purple color option is currently available over at Nokia’s Euro website. Nokia’s Asia website offers the E72 in black, silver and brown, while the US site shows only the black and silver options.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
