EA Sports has announced that they’re developing an up date for EA Sports Active (listed as “the number one rated fitness program for the Wii”). Initially known as EA Sports Active 2.0, the new program will feature a wireless control system that will have you strapping motion sensors to your arms and legs and a heart rate monitor to measure intensity (it should also help the program tell if you’re still alive).
It won’t just be tied to the Wii though; the new fitness program will also be released for the PlayStation 3, iPhone and iPod Touch, and will be connected to an online hub that will help you track and share workout data. It also connects you to a community of Sports Active users, in case you need motivation or interaction with other groups.
Version 2.0 will also feature a prescribed three-phase, nine-week program, with the ability to add more mini-programs to keep your sweat sessions fresh and inspiring. No one to pat your back? They thought of that too: the kit also comes with a personal trainer feature to walk you through you workouts, push you, and encourage you with feedback.
Pricing info hasn’t been released, but the upcoming 2.0 update is expected to be out this fall. The Original EA Sports Active package is still available though, starting from around $47 on Amazon. A “More Workouts” expansion starts at around $33.
