Ouch: Samsung’s 3D glasses will cost $150 a pair Samsung SSG 2100AB

After shelling out at least $3,200 for a 3D-capable HDTV, more serious dough for a 3D-capable Blu-ray player, what else do you need? 3D glasses. How much will the new technology cost? According to a listing at Vann’s, Samsung’s active 3D glasses will cost $150 each.

These aren’t your daddy’s old red-and-blue set of 3D glasses though, they’re specifically built to go along with 3D HDTV’s, with their own built-in wireless connection, rechargeable battery, and active shutter lens that won’t ruin the colors like the cheap pair that gets handed out to you before a movie.

$150 per pair is a serious amount of money though, and that’s just for you. Unless you plan to watch Monsters Vs Aliens on your own (and you really shouldn’t, since it’s a family movie), you’re going to have to get everyone else their own pair too.

Excellent technology, but with the total cost of owning a 3D home theater stacking up, we kinda miss the good (cheap) ol’ pair with the red-and-blue lens.
