Acer has just unveiled four new touchscreen smartphones that include the neoTouch P300 and P400 that runs on Windows Mobile 6.5.3, the budget beTouch E110 that runs on Android 1.5, and the beTouch E400, the company’s first Android 2.1 phone.
Despite the newer Android OS, the beTouch E400 falls below the Liquid A1 along Acer’s ladder in terms of price, being equipped with a “slower” 600MHz processor compared to the latter’s 768MHz Snapdragon processor. In terms of hard specs, the E400 is a mid-range phone that comes with all the basics, including a 3.2-inch screen and 3.2MP camera, with software features that includes social media apps, a mobile multimedia player, and a Spinlets app that provides free music and video streaming. The screen’s 480 x 320 resolution is pretty good for its size though, and the slim 12mm body makes it pocket-friendly. Along the same lines, Acer has also updated the top-end Liquid A1’s OS to Android 2.1 to take advantage of new software features that includes a new web browser and dynamic wallpapers, unofficially making it a (sort of) rival to Google’s Nexus One.

The beTouch E110 brings up the line’s rear with a budget-friendly price and (unfortunately) a basic spec for people looking for an Android phone on-the-cheap. The E110 runs on the older Android 1.5 OS, and packs a conservative 2.8-inch screen, a 3MP camera, and built-in Facebook and Twitdroid applications, which should fit the E110’s target market: young users who won’t need anything more than a touchscreen phone with Facebook and Twitter apps. It connects through 3G and Bluetooth, but drops a Wi-fi connection for a lower price.

The two neoTouch phones (P300 and P400) share basically similar specs, but come in different form factors: the P300 comes with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, while the P400 drops the keyboard for a much slimmer profile. Both come with 3.2-inch touchscreens, 3G, Wi-fi and Bluetooth connectivity, 3.2MP cameras, and the software bonuses that come along with Windows 6.5: the Office Mobile Suite, Windwos Mobile Player 10, and access to Windows Market Place for picking up more apps.
Pricing is still unknown, although the E110 and P300 is expected to ship in March, followed by the beTouch E400 in April. The neoTouch P400 is set for a May release.
