iTablet announced, but not by Apple X2 computing iTablet

UK-based X2 Computing has just launched a range of touchscreen tablet computers called the iTablet just weeks after Apple officially unveiled the iPad. Unlike the iPad, this portable computer will run on Windows or Linux operating systems though, offering a number of features that we all wished the iPad came with, but didn’t.

First, the basics: the iTablet will come with either a 10.2-inch or 12.1-inch (1024 x 768 resolution) touchscreen display with multi-touch listed as an option. The company also lists a full-featured spec to rival mid-range to high-end netbooks, with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, and up to 250GB hard drives for storage under a slim frame.

It will obviously be able to run on Windows, which means that it’ll offer multitasking features that the iPad won’t, plus a number of built-in connectivity options that include three USB ports Wi-fi, Bluetooth, 3G, and an integrated 1.3MP webcam. HDMI output is listed as optional. Unfortunately, since this runs on Windows, users won’t be spared from software crashes and the dreaded Blue Screen of Death that Windows users are all to familiar with.

Pricing and availability is currently unavailable, but the iTablet will be available in several colors including black, white, grey, pink, blue, red, and yellow.
