Samsung has just introduced a new high-end handset that’s expected to debut during the Mobile World Congress set later this month. Tagged as the SHW-M100S, this phone won’t be using a 1GHz Snapdragon that’s regularly seen on high-end units (instead packing an 800MHz processor), but will offer a 5MP camera that can shoot 720p HD video.

The rest of the spec outlines an interesting mix of multimedia and all-around smart mobile use with a fairly large, high-resolution (854 x 480) 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen display that’ll be running Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface over the Android 2.1 OS. Connectivity includes Bluetooth and GPS, plus Wi-fi 802.11n, which should allow for faster connections with a wider range compared to 802.11g on the average smartphone.

For multimedia, the M100S will also come with a T-DMB TV tuner that can tune in to terrestrial TV signals (VHF and UHF) for countries like South Korea that support the DMB standard. It’s unknown if international versions of the phone will replace the DMB tuner with a more flexible DVB-H standard for the rest of the world, but the M100S does come with a DivX support—a big plus that should go pretty well with that wide high-res display.

It’s set to be launched under Korea’s SK Telecom in March. There’s no word on an international release yet.
