Wacom has just announced the Intuos4 Wireless, a 9.4-inch pro-grade graphic tablet (for professional artsy-types) that features a stylus with 2,048 levels of pressure and 60 degrees of tilt recognition, and a Bluetooth connection instead of the usual wired USB.

The slate comes with 8 customizable buttons and a touch-sensitive ring.
It can be a big deal if you somehow need a wireless connection to connect an otherwise stationary tabletop tablet to a computer. Now, we admit that wireless always (always, as a rule) makes a device better, but we can only think of a few uses for a graphic tablet with a non-wired connection: 1) desktop setup can’t be bridged with conventional cables, 2) all the USB ports are used up, 3) you’re allergic to cable clutter, 4) you somehow tend to walk around when you’re drawing, and 5) you just want to because you can.
The BT-based wireless gives it a range of 33 feet, and it comes with its own rechargeable battery that charges via USB.
Whatever your reasons are, the Intuos4 Wireless is built with Mac-friendly features (with Command and Option keys), but should work for anyone with a total of eight customizable buttons with illuminated displays and a touch ring that can control up to four different functions per application. Anyway, you probably know all this if you’re seriously into computer-based graphic design. This is a Wacom Intuos after all, and that’s all you need to know. It’s available now for $399.
