Now this is rockstar-tech. Before you think about price and availability, you gotta know exactly what this is and what it isn’t. The UE 18 Pro kit is actually a set of custom monitors for pro musicians to use onstage, and not just something nice you can pick up for use with your iPod. Of course, you can still use them as such, but with the four-figure price tag, you might want to check your priorities.
For whatever use you may have to get them, here’s the low-down: the UE 18 Pro features six separate sound drivers (three in each ear) to separate the different sound levels for unbelievable clarity. Each earplug packs in a mid-range driver, low frequency driver, and high frequency driver, along with an acoustic filter and crossovers that separate the sound frequencies, allowing them to shoot luxurious audio candy straight into your head, sexing your soul through your ears.
The UE 18 Pro also feature -26dB of isolation and passive noise cancellation so you can block out the rest of the world with a set of really expensive pro-quality plugs, with the option to prop them with an ambient feature to allow for stage bleed—just so the rest of the band won’t feel left out.
The price starts out at $1350, which doesn’t include the initial cost to have an audiologist create a mold of your ear. And this is where the “Custom” part comes in. Each plug will be molded to your ears for a perfect fit. Custom colors and optional individual artwork are also available.
