Yamaha has just launched the YHT-S400, a compact home theater audio system designed for small spaces. It’s a simple two piece kit that includes a soundbar and the receiver that integrates the subwoofer, but features Yamaha’s Air Surround Xtreme technology that achieves 7.1-channel surround sound.
The YHT-S400 supports HD Audio, with HDMI 1.3 connectivity and support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio (aside from the usual Dolby Digital and DTS) for playing out through the virtual surround 7.1-channel speaker setup. It also comes with a UniVolume feature that automatically sets a consistent volume level across different sources
The soundbar fits three 50W speakers, plus a 100W sub built into the receiver for a total of 250 Watts of audio power. The kit also features an FM Tuner, iPod compatibility (using an optional dock), and Bluetooth connectivity for streaming audio from a mobile device.
The YHT-S400 is available now for $600.
