Sony has announced that their flagship Reader, the Daily Edition, is now shipping. Designed for reading newspapers and magazines, Sony’s newest Reader sports a larger 7-inch touchscreen display and a 3G connection that allows for downloading regular content from Sony’s Reader Store with a free connection via AT&T’s network.
The new Reader supports both landscape and portrait orientation, and supports multiple formats including PDF, Microsoft Word, and ePub that allows it to access books from multiple sites and online libraries. The Daily Edition lists a battery life that lasts up to two weeks (or up to 7,500 page turns on a charge), and can store up to 350 books in a 1.6GB internal memory that can be expanded with a MS/SD card slot.
The Daily Edition’s highlight is, of course, the feature that allows automatic delivery of daily publications, with choices that include the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, and other newspapers and magazines straight to the device with a subscription.
The Reader Daily Edition is now selling for $400 at Sony’s online shop.
