LaCie worked with Symwave and came out with an update of their 2Big RAID drive that’s still pretty much like the original, but now uses a faster USB 3.0 connection for burst speeds that top out at 275Mb/s.
The 2Big houses a pair of hot-swappable hard drives that can be set up in a RAID 0/1 configuration, is compatible with Apple’s Time Machine backup feature, and comes with a Gigabit Ethernet connection for use as a network drive.
The USB 3.0-packing 2Big drive is compatible with Mac and Windows platforms and will be available in 4GB capacities. It’s set to be released next year, and is expected to make an appearance on the CES showroom floor.
