JVC has introduced a pair of Soundbar home theater speaker systems, the 5.1-channel TH-BA3 and the 4.1-channel TH-BS7. The TH-BA3 bears the distinction of being the world’s first dual wireless soundbar system, with both the satellites and subwoofer connecting wirelessly.
The 280-watt TH-BA3 is made up of a soundbar, subwoofer, and rear speakers that all connect to a receiver built into the soundbar (along with the decoder, controls, and transmitter). The 5.1 kit offers one analog and two optical digital inputs, and supports Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby ProLogic II surround signals.
The 4.1-channel TH-BS7 features an ultra slim design to match flat-panel HDTVs. The soundbar measures just 1.4 inches tall, and comes with a matching wall-mountable amplifier/control unit and a wireless ‘woofer. The slim kit is a bit weaker than the BA3, offering 180 watts of power through JVC’s Direct Drive speaker technology. The amplifier also decodes Dolby Digital, DTS, and Dolby Pro Logic II signals, and has one analog and three optical digital inputs.
The TH-BA3 is priced at $650, while the slim TH-BS7 costs $600. Both systems will be available this month.
