Sony Ericsson intros Elm, Hazel GreenHeart phones Sony Ericcson Elm Hazel

Sony Ericsson has introduced two new phones–the Elm and Hazel–that fall under the brand’s GreenHeart line of eco-friendly phones. Both share pretty much the same features that focus on all-around everyday use with social networking apps, multimedia, a 5MP cam, and a full suite of connectivity options, but differ come in different form factors: the Elm is a candybar, while the Hazel is a slider.

Both phones support quad-band GSM and 3G/HSDPA data networks, and feature built-in Wi-fi, GPS (with A-GPS support) and Bluetooth connectivity, plus 5MP main cams with autofocus, LED flash, and geotagging support. Both phones will come with a widget-based homescreen interface that gives users easy access to social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter.

For entertainment, the phones come with multimedia players with TrackID and integrated MegaBass quality audio, as well as SE’s SensMe technology. Built-in storage is listed at 280MBs, but both mobiles come with a microSD card slot for expansion. The phones also boast SE’s new audio enhancement technologies for clear calls, such as Noise Shield, Clear Voice, and Intelligent Volume Adaptation.

The candybar Elm will be released first (expected in the first quarter of 2010), and will come with a 2.2-inch 240×320 screen. The Hazel slider is expected to be out by the second quarter of next year, and will sport a larger 2.6-inch screen.

Falling under Sony Ericsson’s GreenHeart line, both phones are built with recycled plastics, are free from hazardous materials, and will come with eco-friendly packaging that includes an electronic (paperless) manual.
