Nokia has just announced a premium variant for their popular 6700 classic mobile phone. Covered in an 18-carat gold-plated shell and renamed as the 6700 classic Gold Edition, Nokia’s shiny new candybar simply trades up the 6700 classic’s aluminum panels with gold while keeping the original classic’s specs.

It’s still pretty much the same phone (but obviously dressed in the king’s clothes), with a solid spec list that includes quad-band and 3G/HSDPA/HSUPA network support, Bluetooth and A-GPS connectivity (with Nokia Maps), and a 5MP camera with autofocus and LED flash.. The phone will be bundled with a leather carrying case and strap, an 8GB microSD card, and custom wallpapers to keep with the overall theme.

The Gold Edition is expected to ship within the first quarter of 2010 for 370 Euros. Another color set will also be offered called the White Gold Edition that replaces some of the gold panels for a two-toned exterior.
