EA has come up with a rather sneaky way to get kids to read with Flips, a new kid-friendly eBook range created for the Nintendo DS handheld console.
The app uses the DS touch screen and stylus to allow children to read and interact by combining the world of storytelling with quizzes and references to characters, encouraging greater concentration and incentive to finish every chapter. Within the books, links to information on characters, locations, and more appear to give the reader a unique way of interacting with the story and enhancing their experience.
The Flips range will include a range of children’s books and magazines from authors such as Cathy Cassidy, Eoin Colfer, Enid Blyton, and various writers from the popular kids’ series “Too Ghoul for School”.
The Flips books can be ordered through Amazon UK for £25 (they’re currently discounted, and being offered for £18)
