Nokia has just released two new sliders, the Nokia 6700 slide and the 7230. The two offer fairly light, consumer-centric designs that are designed with social networking in mind, although the 6700 slide is a Symbian-based smartphone. The 7230, on the other hand, runs on an S40 interface, and is packed with basic features for a more buyer-friendly price tag.
Not to be confused with the 6700 classic, the 6700 slide is a full-on smartphone (despite the rather light, iPod nano-like design) that features a 5MP cam with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus and LED flash, quad-band GSM and 3G/HSDPA data network support, and Bluetooth connectivity.

It doesn’t come with GPS and Wi-fi connectivity to keep the price down, but it should still appeal to the younger crowd with six available body colors (Petrol Blue, Purple, Pink, Red, Lime, and Raw Aluminum) and apps for quick-launching social networking sites such as Facebook, Friendster, VOX, Twitter, Hi5, MySpace, YouTube, and others. It also comes packed with multimedia features, including a music player, FM Radio, and a decent 2.2-inch QVGA screen.
The 7230 is a more basic phone, featuring a compact frame and a “classic” feature set to keep the price down. It packs a 3.2MP cam, a large 2.4-inch display, as well as 3G and Bluetooth connectivity. It’ll also come with a 3.5mm audio jack for music, an FM Radio, and a microSD card slot for storage. The 7230 will be available in two colors, Hot Pink and Graphite.
Both mobiles should be available by early 2010.
