Buffalo keeps up with the times by releasing the new DriveStation HD-HXU3, an external drive that connects via the newer, faster USB 3.0 interface. The faster connection offers transfer rates of up to 130MB/s (three times faster than a USB 2.0 connection), making it ideal for working with high-bandwidth tasks such as video editing and media streaming.
Of course, the high-speed transfer rate will only available to people who actually own a computer with a USB 3.0 port, but for everyone else, it’ll still work with the older USB 2.0 (for a slower 48MB/s peak). The DriveStation HD-HXU3 is compatible with Windows (including Windows 7) and Mac operating systems.
The drive is now available in three capacities–1TB for $200, 1.5TB for $250, and 2TBs for $400–and will come with Memeo’s AutoBackup software.
