Amazon updates Kindle reader with firmware upgrade

Amazon has released a new firmware update for their 6-inch Kindle eBook reader, giving the older model PDF support and a longer (85% longer) battery life. The firmware update will come with new Kindle shipments, but will be downloadable for all the older Kindles (first and second-gen) through the device’s 3G connection.
