Google has officially unveiled the Android 2.0 smartphone OS. Simply known as the “Éclair”, it’s the operating system’s first major update, adding a long list of upgrades and improvements highlighted by a better camera interface, an improved virtual keyboard, and a better Web browser.

Éclair is now capable of handling high-end cameras, with more cam settings and available tweaking options (such as flash settings, scene modes, white balance and color filters). The touchscreen keyboard now recognizes multi-touch inputs for faster typing, while the browser is updated to handle HTML5-coded pages.

The new OS also features enhanced support for Bluetooth devices, as well as an improved messaging system that allows for inbox searches and automatic deletes for old messages.
