Canon has just introduced the EOS 1D Mark IV, the company’s flagship DSLR cam. As such, it packs in the best of what the company is able to fit into the kit’s body, beginning with an APS-H 16-megapixel CMOS sensor and twin DIGIC IV image processors.
The EOS 1D Mark IV is able to snap continuous shots at a ten-frame-per-second clip, as well as record HD 1080p video at 30fps, and 720p at 60fps. It’s also improved with a new 45-point AF system, a new AI Servo II AF focus tracking system, and a wide sensitivity range of ISO 100 to 12,800 that lets it shoot in low-light without having to use a flash. The cam’s noise reduction system cleans up the low-light-high-ISO shots.

The camera sports a 3-inch ClearView II display, and an improved low-pass filter that removes dust from the sensor. Another new feature is its ability to shoot in smaller S-RAW or M-RAW formats that end up as smaller files but remain uncompressed.
The EOS 1D Mark IV is expected to be released by the end of the year with a $5,000 price tag for the body-only kit.
