Apple today unveiled a new iMac that comes with LED-backlit 21.5 and 27-inch widescreen displays in a new edge-to-edge glass design and seamless all aluminum enclosure. The new iMac line, starting at $1,199, improves on the previous models by coming with faster Intel Core 2 Duo processors starting at 3.06 GHz, and options for the latest Core i5 and i7 quad-core processors.
The standard spec includes 4GBs of memory, built-in AirPort Extreme 802.11n for Wi-fi networking, Bluetooth and Gigabit LAN, and built-in audio. For storage, the 21.5-inch model can fit Serial ATA hard drives from 500GBs to 2TBs, while the 27-incher’s options start from a 1TB hard drive to the maximum 2TB.

For graphics, the 21.5-inch version includes a graphics option for adding either an Nvidia GeForce 9400M or an ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics processor, while the 27-inch model with a dual-core processor can opt for either ATI’s Radeon HD 4670 or HD 4870. The top-end 27-incher with a quad core processor comes with ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics. The 21.5-inch display supports an HD-capable resolution of 1920 x 1080, while the larger 27-inch model supports a 2560 x 1440 resolution.

All systems have a built-in iSight webcam, a MiniDisplayPort output, and a slot-loading DVD burner, and a software package that includes Apple’s Mac OS X Snow Leopard operating system, and an installation of iLife for multimedia.
Prices for the iMac with a 21.5-inch display starts at $1199, while the 27-inch models starts at $1,699. Every new iMac ships with a wireless keyboard and the new wireless Magic Mouse, the world’s first mouse with Multi-Touch technology.
