Verizon picks up WinMo 6.5 based HTC Imagio HTC Imagio

Verizon has just launched their first ever smartphone to run on the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, HTC’s Imagio. A Verizon exclusive, the Imagio is a high-end smartphone that’s highlighted by a large 3.6-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen that features HTC’s TouchFLO 3D interface, and is also the first to support the provider’s V CAST Mobile TV, Music with Rhapsody, and Video on Demand services.

Built to perform for work and play, the Imagio sports an extensive list of connectivity and multimedia features that includes HSPA and high-speed CDMA/EV-DO network support as well as Wi-fi and Bluetooth connectivity. It’s clearly designed for multimedia though, with a 3.5mm audio jack, one-touch media buttons, and a built-in kickstand for easy hands-free viewing (along with the built-in support for Verizon’s Mobile TV, and music/video download service). A 5MP main cam with autofocus is also included.

The Imagio should be available this week along with Windows Mobile 6.5 for $200 (after a $100 mail-in rebate) with a two-year contract. Retail packages should be available by October 20th.
