MSI has just announced a new G-series gaming laptop based on Intel’s new Core i7 mobile processor, the GT640. It runs Intel’s 1.6GHz Core i7 720QM CPU and PM55 chipset and supports a Turbo mode that automatically overclocks the processor up to 2.8GHz for more gaming performance.
The GT640 collects a handful of the latest computer tech inside the 15.4-inch frame: aside from featuring the new mobile Core i7 CPU, it’ll also run Windows 7. The rest of the spec says performance computing as well: 4GBs of DDR3 memory, up to 500GBs of HDD storage, Nvidia GeForce GTS 250M dedicated graphics, and a choice between a multi-DVD or Blu-ray drive. Connectivity options include Gigabit LAN, Wi-fi b/ g/ draft-n, and HDMI. Extras include a 2MP webcam, HD speakers, card reader, and a standard 6-cell battery (or optional 9-cell pack).
It bears MSI’s familiar G-series design, with an aluminum exterior with glossy red trim for good looks. It also comes with MSI’s ECO Engine, a power saving solution that toggles between different power settings, enabled with a dedicated button.
Pricing and shipping info isn’t available at this time.
