Dell has just unveiled their newest flagship business notebook, the Latitude Z, a 16-incher that measures only a little over half-an-inch thick and weighs only 4.4 pounds. The Latitude Z is a pretty swank kit, with an attractive angled design built with premiummaterials, while delivering on productivity with a choice of Ultra Low Voltage Intel Core 2 Duo processors for a longer battery life.
The rest of the spec includes up to 4GBs of DDR3 memory, up to two solid state drives for storage, Wi-fi and Bluetooth for connectivity, and integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics for powering the 16-inch, 1600 x 900 WLED display. The Latitude Z also adds a backlit chiclet-style keyboard, a multi-touch pad that supports gestures, a fingerprint reader for security, and touch-sensitive controls beside the screen that act as hotkeys for enabling different functions. A 2MP webcam with autofocus (that can also be used as a document scanner) and an external optical drive also comes with the package.

Two configurations for the Latitude Z are currently available: a $1,999 package that includes a 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GBs of memory, a 64GB SSD, and external DVD drive, and an upscale $2,159 variant that comes with a faster 1.6GHz processor, 4GBs of memory, up to 256GBs of SSD storage, and an external Blu-ray drive.

Dell also offers a unique charging pad that allows the laptop to charge its battery wirelessly—by simply placing the laptop onto the pad for a totally wireless workspace. It’s a pretty cool add-on, but that of course ties the laptop to the charging pad, which would be plugged in anyway.
