MSI will be coming out with two new X-Slim ultrathin notebooks, the 14-inch X400 and the 15.6-inch X610 that sports a comparable body to the existing Intel Core 2–based X600, but replaces the Intel platform with AMD’s new Congo platform for ultrathin PCs.
The X400 will ship in two versions, an standard entry-level model that runs Intel’s SU2700 processor, 2GBs of memory and a 320GB hard drive, and an upgraded version with a faster SU3500 processor and 500GB hard drive. The X400 will feature a 4-cell battery, but an 8-cell pack is offered as an option.
The X610 will run on an AMD Athlon Neo processor along with 2GBs of memory and storage options ranging from 320GB to 640GB inside the X600’s 1-inch frame. Graphics is also better than the average ultraslim, with an ATI Mobility HD 4330 for handling 3D games and HD video playback. For entertainment, the X610 will also come with Dolby-certified speakers and an optional Blu-ray drive and HDMI output.
