According to an unofficial online report, Nokia will be updating its 8800 line of luxury phones soon. Known as the 8800 Erdos, the new phone will still feature the 8800 line’s “reverse slide” form factor, solid build, and premium materials, but adds a lot more smarts with a Symbian OS.
The report gives a pretty complete picture of what the new premium phone brings to the table, with specs that include a 5MP snapper with Carl Zeiss Optics, 8GBs of internal memory, as well as 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-fi connectivity.
The design also incorporates a “bullet-silver” (stainless steel?) body, and a glass screen that matches the mirrored chrome shell when the phone is off and becomes clear when the 2.4-inch QVGA screen lights up. If the reports hold true, the Symbian OS will also be a first for the 8800 line, officially making the Erdos a smartphone.
The Nokia 8800 Erdos is listed to be announced next month.
