JVC has just announced the GD-463D10, a 46-inch LED-backlit HD display that can show 3D images. 3D glasses included.
Built with an ultra-slim frame that measures only 1.5 inches thick at its slimmest point, the display doesn’t come with a built-in tuner, but comes with a pair of battery-free 3D glasses and a wide 3D viewing angle. Eye-friendly flicker-free 3D images are provided by an Xpol polarizing filter on the display screen and the use of a pair of battery-free passive-type circular polarizing filter glasses. Two pairs of the battery-free glasses will be packaged with the kit.
Built primarily as a 3D LCD monitor for professional use, The GD-463D10 supports full 1080p HD video and a 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, but doesn’t come with a TV tuner. It shouldn’t be hard to plug one it though—the display features three HDMI input ports for supporting 1080/24p, 50p, 60p, 50i, and 60i video sources.
JVC plans to produce 2,000 units a year for the global market. It shouldn’t be an issue though, since this 3D display won’t come cheap; it’s priced at over $9,000.
