The start of the Nokia World show also saw the unveiling of two new mobiles under the new Xseries line of music-oriented phones (to replace the XpressMusic line), the Nokia X6 and X3.
The X6 is a slim 13.8mm touchscreen smartphone with a 3.2-inch display and no keypad. Based on a Symbian OS v9.4 S60 mobile operating system and a 434MHz ARM processor, it comes with a high-end spec that’s comparable to the N97 with 3G HSDPA data network support, Bluetooth and Wi-fi connectivity, and A-GPS support with Ovi Maps 3.0 software.

It leans more towards music playing and multimedia though, and is set up with a 5MP cam, 32GBs of internal storage, built-in stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio jack, and a battery that’s listed to deliver up to 35 hours of music playback.

The X3 is the first Series 40 device to come with support for the Ovi Store for adding content. Sharing the X6’s design cues, the X3 is a bit thicker with a slider form factor that features a 2.2-inch screen and an alphanumeric keypad. Specs are a bit more toned down compared to the X6 with a smaller 2.2-inch (non-touch) screen, and a 3.2MP cam, and it drops most of the X6’s connectivity (no 3G, Wi-fi, or A-GPS) to keep the price down. It’s still a music phone with a 3.5mm audio jack and dedicated music controls, but storage is limited to a microSD card slot (with support for up to 16GB cards).
Both Xseries devices support Nokia’s Comes with Music service for unlimited music on a set monthly rate.
The unlocked X6 mobile is expected to sell for EUR 450, while the X3 will sell for EUR 115. Both phones are expected to be released during the fourth quarter of 2009.
