Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 launch date set

The buzz has been around for awhile, but Microsoft has finally announced October 6th as the launch date for Windows Mobile 6.5.
The mobile OS update will include straight access to social networking sites and two new services: My Phone for syncing data and media to the web, and the Windows Marketplace that allows for adding apps straight to supported mobiles.
A lot of relatively new WinMo 6.1-based smartphones released earlier this year were designed to support the new OS—with some high-end phones offering a free update–while upcoming mobiles should arrive with Windows Mobile 6.5 off the shelf.
