Sirius XM launches SkyDock sat radio add on for iPhone Sirius xm skydock

Sirius XM has just announced a new device that allows iPhones and the iPod Touch to receive satellite radio signals called the SkyDock.

The SkyDock comes in the form of a docking cradle that fits the touch-based devices, and comes with a built-in receiver that will let them tune into XM satellite radio stations without relying on an internet connection. The stalk plugs into a car’s 12V lighter socket for power, and audio can then be streamed into the car’s entertainment system via a built-in wireless FM transmitter or a bundled Aux-in cable that plugs directly into the car stereo.

The SkyDock will ship for $120, but will need the XM SkyDock app and a subscription to the XM internet radio service to work. The software will be available in the App Store by the time the SkyDock is launched.
